Endowments

You can provide a steady and perpetual source of income for causes that are meaningful to you.

The ongoing, dependable funding provided by an endowment can transform the career of a UCSF faculty member, ensure a student’s ability to attend one of our top-ranked schools, or fund research that may lead to a cure for a debilitating disease.

How does it work?

Money contributed to an endowed fund is invested, and as the principal grows, a portion of endowment earnings is paid out to support the programs or purposes chosen at the time the gift is made.

About the UCSF endowment

UCSF’s endowment comprises more than 1,300 individual funds, including more than 400 endowed chairs and professorships and more than 300 endowed student support funds. Between 2015 and 2023, the seven-year annualized return on UCSF Foundation investments was 8.6%.

A Lasting and Growing Impact

Whether you designate your endowment to support the University's highest priorities, direct it toward a specific school or department, or dedicate it to a cherished program or area of research, your impact will be felt for generations to come.
